Welcome to the official Techfugees Kenya Hackathon page!
Hosted by iHub in Nairobi
Â
Techfugees is an impact-driven global organisation coordinating the tech community’s response to the needs of refugees, asylum seekers and displaced people. It exists to empower displaced people with technology and build with them long terms solutions to their everyday challenges.
Today, Techfugees' local Chapters span almost across all continents from Americans to Australian and Techfugees Kenya is amongst them!
Â
The Techfugees Nairobi Hackathon will bring together for 3 days developers, designers humanitarians, together with newly arrived and settled refugees to design and prototype #tech4refugees projects on ONE topic: HEALTH
THE CHALLENGE
The Kenya Red Cross are looking for innovative solutions to enable local health workers and community leaders to provide early health warnings and avert more serious health problems in Kakuma refugee camp.
Â
We do not run hackathons for hackathons' sake!
Throughout these 3 days, all actors can oversee the power of technology for helping solving one of the 5 priority areas of work of Techfugees (employment, education, access to rights and information, social inclusion, health). We see our hackathons mainly as educational events where one can learn about the refugee situation, their needs, and what technology they use.Â
